ASR August Newsletter

August started with our annual trip to Louisville, KY for the National Street Rod Association’s Street Rod Nationals. This was a big show for us and quite frankly it was a concern for us as we rolled out of Peabody the weekend before the event. Would the event go on? Would anyone show up? Would we get there and get set up and have the state shut the show down?

We are pleased to report that the show did happen and all things considered we feel it went great! We expected the show to be down from the 2019 event, which was the 50th annual and the biggest turnout that we’d seen at the show, and we guessed pretty close on the car count. There were a lot less vendors this year due to corona virus concerns, which we expected. There was still a field hospital set up in the south half of the vendor building, so it’s worked out having less vendors since there was less space.  There were still a lot of cool cars and great folks on hand and we got to see a bunch of friends and hopefully help a lot of people get their hot rods one step closer to where they want them to be!

After returning from Kentucky we have been back here at the shop restocking shelves and preparing for our Open House on September 19th! We will have music, door prizes, a car show. B. Scott Studios will be on site with their mobile screen printing rig, creating the show shirts right in front of your eyes, which is pretty cool to see how it’s done! Our new (it’s been 7 months am I really still new?!?) employee Travis will be the DJ and announcer for the day and will be on hand to help customers with their questions, if you haven’t met him yet be sure to say hi!
